A new coach will be arriving from Dublin, Ireland, to begin working with the club. James Boyce will strengthen the team and he specifically has high performance player experience which I’m sure he’ll put to good use. He has 7 years of coaching experience having previously coached in Edinburgh for part of that time. His details for private coaching will be on the noticeboards by the end of the week.

Strathgryffe tennis coach, Chris Murphy, has recently gained the Spanish RPT coaching qualification. He even went to Spain to take the qualification. Well done Chris. This can only have made Chris a better coach and I commend his efforts.

Strathgryffe players were almost exclusively on the winners podium at the Paisley & District Championships. Innes McNicol won the Mens singles with Jennifer Steel beating Caitlin Inglis in the Womens final which was a repeat of the U18 final. Cameron Mackie flew the flag in the U18 boys. Innes partnered his brother, Findlay, to win the mens doubles. Jennifer steel completed her unbeaten tournament by winning both the Womens doubles and the mixed doubles partnered by David Kilpatrick in the latter.

Strathgryffe’s Cameron Kerr finished a FANTASTIC 3rd in the Great Britain Nationals down at Bournemouth. In the last 16 he beat Julian Lewis 4-2; 5-3 and followed this up with a 5-3; 5-3 win over James Parkin in the quarters. The semi final was a repeat of the Winter Masters with Cameron being pipped 10-8 in the final set tie-break by Jake Hersey who went on to win the final.

Anna Daisley (11) won the Grade 4 (LTA) Under 12 singles and narrowly missed out on getting the Under 14 title as well. This caps a very successful last few weeks with Anna netting some good wins and nearly even winning the Greenock and District ladies title, losing in 3 sets to Strathgryffe’s Jennifer Rose Saidler.
