Grade 2 Final for Carla

Congratulations to Carla Ward who made the final of the Summer National Tour 9 & u Girls Event which was held at Scotstoun on Saturday 4th June. The entry was limited to 16 girls and included the top talent from all over Britain with Carla being the only player from Scotland accepted into the draw.

She played very well and won through a very tough group of players in her section to qualify for the quarter then semi-final stages. Her opponent Marelie Raath from Middlesex who is a year older than Carla beat her 7-3 7-2 in the final.

Monday Club Afternoon June Tournament

The weather could not have been better for the Monday Club Afternoon summer tournament which was held today.

The format was a round robin with all five couples playing each other in timed matches followed by a delicious afternoon tea organised by Janis Coyle. The spectators or perhaps I should say sun bathers on the patio were on hand to offer support and the odd bit of heckling!

Congratulations to the joint winners, Georgie Pollock & Fred Hallsworth and Jeff Pollock & Michael Coane.

Eilidh met Molly Goulding in the final and won 6-1 6-2.

John & Eilidh will now progress to the County Finals which will be held at The David Lloyd Renfrew on the 4th & 5th June. We wish them every success for the next stage!

Robbie takes Glasgow Uni Gents Singles Title

Not to be outdone by younger brother Lee winning the Strathclyde University Gents Singles title, big brother Robbie Wishart has just won the Glasgow Uni Gents singles title defeating Calum Gibson-Smith 6-2 6-2 in the final. A great result!

We wonder if that's a first, having two brothers Club Champions of both Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities in the same year?!
